As soon as I could lift a box in the early seventies was the time I was first introduced to the world of antiques. Flea Markets, Antique Shows, Auctions, and driving around the country side kicking and screaming all the way. Honestly, I hated the word "Antiques"!
Later on in life when I was 20 years of age, I moved in with my then girlfriend now wife. We headed for Ikea to purchase some chairs for the kitchen. We got them home, assembled them and months down the road realized why they were so cheap! After that experience we ended up at my fathers house to purchase a table from him (early lesson in life from my father, NOTHING IS FREE!) I brought it home, made a few repairs and this is where it all began. I fell in love with taking something that's been beat up and bringing it back to life.
Over the years my tastes have changed. I think I have turned into a collector rather than a dealer, since what I tend to buy are things that intrigue me. The business for me is based on honesty, trust and educating the younger generation. In no way do I claim to be an expert, but instead a student. There is so much more to learn and there always will be.
Canada's heritage is an important lesson in life which everyone can reflect on. Think of all the hard ships, pain, suffering and struggles our ancestors dealt with to build a country for us to enjoy and prosper. It's up to you to maintain that heritage! |
